Suresh Kumar Khanna, presenting the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2023, announced a provision of 1,050 crores under the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana for the fiscal year 2023-24; and 4,032 crores for destitute widows. In the UP Budget 2023, a proposal of 600 crores for the Samuhik Vivah scheme for the marriage of all girls of all classes was announced. A 150 crore provision was proposed under the marriage grant scheme for the daughters of poor people from other backward classes.
The finance minister mentioned the recently held Global Investors Summit in his UP Budget 2023 speech, saying it resulted in 19,000 MoUs worth approximately 33.50 lakh crore. “The government contributes more than 8% of the country’s GDP. The Gross State Domestic Product increased by 16.8% in the year 2021-2022, which was higher than the country’s growth rate. The rate of GSDP growth for the fiscal year 2023-2024 has been estimated at 19%. In an era of global recession, the state’s economic growth rate is encouraging. Before 2017, the unemployment rate was 14.4%; today, it is around 4.2% “said the minister.
A provision of 21,510 has been announced for the construction of roads and bridges, with an additional allocation of Es 6,209 made in the UP Budget 2023 for road and bridge maintenance. The minister proposed a total of 12,631 crores for various National Rural Health Mission programs. A budget provision of 7,248 crores has been proposed for the old age/farmer pension scheme, with Divyang Pension Yojana receiving 1,120 crores.
The minister announced a budget of 3,600 crores to provide tablets and smartphones to eligible Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme students. The minister proposed a budget of 60 crores for the UP Information Technology and Startups Policy.
According to the minister, the Uttar Pradesh Budget sets an investment target of 10 lakh crore and the creation of 20,000 jobs over the next five years under the UP Tourism Policy 2022. Gorakhpur Industrial Corridor has been proposed for Rs. 200 crores.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, praised the budget and noted that it is the first Amrit Kaal budget and that it will lay the groundwork for a $1 trillion economy, which will enable Uttar Pradesh to become self-sufficient. “Petrol and diesel are less expensive in Uttar Pradesh than they are in other states without adding an additional tax on the people of that state. We didn’t raise the VAT. In 2016–17, the unemployment rate was between 17–18%; today, it is only 4% “said the chief minister.
