All India Advocates Cricket Tournament
Advocates representing 15 High Courts and the Supreme Court of India will come together for eight days of cricket, camaraderie and sporting competition from 17 to 24 October 2026.
Mumbai, 12 October 2026: With just five days remaining until the opening of the 38th All India Advocates Cricket Tournament, Mumbai is preparing to welcome 16 teams from across the country for one of the legal fraternity’s longest-running sporting traditions.
Scheduled from 17 to 24 October 2026, the tournament will see practising advocates representing 15 High Courts and the Supreme Court of India compete across eight cricket grounds in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
For the participating advocates, the tournament offers an opportunity to step away from the demands of courtrooms, chambers and legal proceedings and come together through a shared passion for cricket.
The eight-day event is hosted by the Bombay Advocates Cricket Association (BACA), in association with the Advocates’ Association of Western India, the Bombay Bar Association and the Bombay Incorporated Law Society, under the aegis of the Cricket Association of Advocates in India (CAAI).
A Sporting Tradition That Unites the Legal Fraternity
First held in 1989, the All India Advocates Cricket Tournament has developed into an enduring tradition, bringing together members of the legal profession from different parts of India. With hosting responsibilities rotating among High Courts, the tournament has previously been held in cities including Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
Beyond the competition, the event provides an occasion for advocates practising in different jurisdictions to interact, renew friendships and strengthen professional relationships outside the courtroom.
The tournament also reflects the spirit of sportsmanship within the legal fraternity, bringing together individuals who share a commitment to their profession and an enthusiasm for the game.
Competing for the Vijay Tulpule Trophy
The participating teams will compete for the prestigious Vijay Tulpule Trophy, named in memory of the late Advocate Vijay Traymbak Tulpule, a distinguished criminal trial lawyer at the Bombay High Court and a passionate supporter of advocates’ cricket.
A Bombay Ranji Trophy probable before entering the legal profession, Tulpule practised law for nearly five decades and served as Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor for Maharashtra from 1998 to 2000.
Affectionately known as ‘Guruji’, he served as President and Patron of advocates’ cricket between 1994 and 1999. The trophy commemorates his contribution to the sport and his enduring association with the legal community.
Mumbai Ready for the Opening
The tournament will begin on Saturday, 17 October 2026, with teams assembling at the Main Ground at 7:00 am. The opening proceedings will include the National Anthem, presentation of participation medals and official team photographs.
Matches will continue through 24 October, bringing together advocates from across India for a week of competitive cricket and professional fellowship.
As the countdown begins, the 38th edition promises to celebrate the values that have sustained the tournament for nearly four decades: friendship, sportsmanship, mutual respect and a common love for cricket.
Sixteen teams. Different courts. One shared passion.
