When Talent Has Already Chosen Its Path
Some journeys don’t begin in high school.
They begin years earlier—in hours of daily practice, countless performances, examination halls, rehearsals that stretch into evenings, and a quiet determination to return to the instrument the next morning.
By the time some students reach Grade 8, music is no longer a hobby. It has become part of who they are.
The question then is no longer whether they should pursue music. It is whether their education is able to grow alongside their ambition.
The years between Grades 8 and 12 are among the most formative in a young musician’s life. Technique matures. Artistic identity begins to emerge. Performance experience becomes increasingly meaningful. At the same time, students are preparing for university, making important academic decisions, and building the foundation for the future they hope to create.
For students who are serious about music, these years deserve an educational pathway that recognises both dimensions of their journey.
This is the thinking behind the collaboration between Furtados School of Music and Corvuss American Academy.
Designed for a carefully selected cohort of students, the programme brings together a WASC-accredited American high school education with an immersive music specialisation. Students follow the Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum from the College Board, while engaging in rigorous study across performance, musicianship, composition, ensemble work and music theory—not as separate pursuits, but as complementary parts of a single educational experience.
Alongside their academic studies, students prepare for internationally recognised milestones, including the Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory examination, as well as practical examinations through Trinity College London and ABRSM. Equally important, they build a body of work through performances, creative projects and artistic portfolios that reflects years of disciplined growth and prepares them for higher education at leading universities and conservatories around the world.
Rooted in the educational legacy of Furtados School of Music and the globally recognised academic framework of Corvuss American Academy, the programme is built on a simple belief: students who have already demonstrated exceptional commitment to music deserve an education that is equally intentional.
