An Action Hero, the latest film starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has received preliminary box office estimates. Box office projections indicate that the actor’s latest thriller will start slowly.
According to Box Office Worldwide, An Action Hero is expected to gross around Rs. 1.35 crore at the box office. A similar figure was predicted in a KoiMoi report. This is similar to how Ayushmann’s previous two films, Doctor G and Anek, fared on opening days.
According to Box Office India, the morning collections were even lower than those of Anek, but trends indicate that they may improve in the evening. While Anek only made 1.77 crores on its first day, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui made 3.75 crores. Meanwhile, Doctor G made 3.87 crores on Friday. Clearly, Ayushmann’s films are not receiving the attention they deserve.
Anirudh Iyer’s debut feature film, An Action Hero, also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. The film follows an artist’s journey both in front and behind the lens and is billed as a slick actioner with an offbeat satirical sense of humor. Ayushmann plays Manav in the film, an action hero on the run from Bhura Solanki (Jaideep), who wants to avenge the mysterious death of his brother.
In a recent interview, Ayushmann told PTI that An Action Hero has no social message. “It is just pure excitement and entertainment,” he said. “We have reels and everything on (Instagram) and on phones.” As a result, the competition for theatrical release comes not only from OTT but also from social media.” When asked if any of his previous hits could still entice people to the theaters today, the National Award winner said he would bet big on family entertainers.
“Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho will undoubtedly do those numbers. Bala, to some extent, because they are comedic films. They are all family films with a sense of humor and emotion. People go to the movies with their families. Although restricting films may not be effective, they are excellent for OTT. You must broaden your audience and show that film to them, “He continued.
