All India Advocates Cricket Tournament
16 teams representing India’s legal fraternity compete in the historic tournament, inaugurated in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and distinguished members of the judiciary.
Mumbai, 22 October 2026: The 38th All India Advocates Cricket Tournament has entered its knockout stage, with eight teams advancing to the quarter-finals following the group-stage matches held across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The tournament, being held from 17 to 24 October 2026, brings together 16 teams representing advocates from 15 High Court jurisdictions and the Supreme Court of India, continuing a sporting tradition that began in 1989.
Hosted by the Bombay Advocates Cricket Association (BACA), under the aegis of the Cricket Association of Advocates in India (CAAI), the event has brought members of India’s legal fraternity together for eight days of competitive cricket, sportsmanship and professional camaraderie.
Inauguration Attended by Senior Judiciary and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister
The tournament’s formal inauguration at D. Y. Patil University, Navi Mumbai, was attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde, sitting judges of the Supreme Court of India, senior members of the Bombay High Court judiciary, former judges, senior advocates and representatives of Bar associations.
Among the dignitaries were Supreme Court Justices M. M. Sundresh, Prasanna B. Varale and Atul S. Chandurkar, former Chief Justice of India Justice B. R. Gavai, and Bombay High Court Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar.
The occasion was also attended by Dr. Vijay D. Patil, President of D. Y. Patil University, alongside senior representatives of the legal fraternity.
In a statement shared through his official social media account, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the tournament’s longstanding tradition and appreciated the enthusiasm of advocates who continue to participate in competitive cricket despite their demanding professional responsibilities.
He also reflected on the contrast between the courtroom, where advocates engage in legal arguments, and the cricket field, where the same professionals come together through friendship, teamwork and sportsmanship.

A Cricketing Tradition Spanning Nearly Four Decades
First held in 1989, the All India Advocates Cricket Tournament has developed into an enduring sporting tradition within India’s legal community.
The competition has previously been hosted in several cities across India and returns to Mumbai for its 38th edition.
This year’s tournament is being contested for the Vijay Tulpule Trophy, named in memory of the late Advocate Vijay Traymbak Tulpule, a respected Bombay High Court practitioner and cricket enthusiast who contributed significantly to the development of advocates’ cricket.
Beyond the sporting competition, the tournament provides a platform for advocates practising before different courts to interact outside their professional environment, strengthen longstanding relationships and celebrate the shared values of discipline, teamwork and mutual respect.
Knockout Stage Sets Up the Final Days of Competition
With the group stage completed and eight teams remaining, attention now turns to the knockout rounds and the championship.
The tournament continues across venues in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, with fixtures, results, standings and updates available through the official digital platforms.
