BHARUCH, GUJARAT — Sometimes, the most defining decisions in life are the ones we never planned to make. For AADIJAY®️ founder Amit B Choudhury, a routine banking transfer from Odisha to Gujarat became the turning point that transformed a career banker into an entrepreneur.
Before the pandemic, Amit was transferred from Bhubaneswar to Bharuch a Mid-sized industrial city on the banks of the Narmada. At the time, it appeared to be just another professional posting. Instead, it became the foundation of what would later grow into AADIJAY®️, one of Gujarat’s emerging food and hospitality brands.
“Gujarat changes the way you think about business,” Amit says. “The entrepreneurial energy here is impossible to ignore. Everyone is building something, discussing something, or planning something bigger.”
Having spent years in banking analyzing business models, financial structures, and market behavior, Amit quickly identified an opportunity in Bharuch’s growing food delivery ecosystem. The city had a large industrial workforce and rising demand for quality food delivery, yet the market remained underserved despite the presence of aggregator platforms.
That insight led to the birth of AADIJAY®️ beginning as a Home kitchen operation in Bharuch before gradually expanding across Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara.
What started as a small-scale experiment soon became a case study in operational discipline and customer trust. According to Amit, Bharuch played a critical role in shaping the brand’s standards.
“The customer in Bharuch is honest and demanding. If your quality drops, they tell you immediately. That pressure made us better every single day,” he explains.
Today, AADIJAY®️ holds a significant share of aggregator sales in Bharuch Growth achieved largely through product consistency, customer loyalty, and execution rather than heavy advertising expenditure.
Amit believes operating from a Tier-2 city gave the company an unexpected advantage. Instead of viewing Bharuch as a limitation, AADIJAY®️ treated it as a testing ground for systems, operations, and customer experience before scaling across Gujarat.
Reflecting on the journey, Amit often considers how differently life might have unfolded had the transfer never happened.
“I came to Bharuch for a job,” he says. “I found my purpose.”
For AADIJAY®️, the Gujarat chapter was never just about geography. It was about discovering the environment that turned instinct into ambition and ambition into a brand.
