Referee Seminar
Kolkata, 28th March 2026 — In a major step towards strengthening the standards of officiating, a high-impact Referee Seminar was successfully conducted at CB Community Hall, Salt Lake, under the expert guidance of Hanshi Premjit Sen, ahead of the 28th West Bengal State Karate Do Championship.
The seminar saw an overwhelming participation of nearly 200 referees and judges from across West Bengal, all coming together with a shared commitment to upgrade their technical knowledge and ensure uniformity in rule interpretation as per the latest international standards.
A distinguished name in the global karate community, Hanshi Premjit Sen currently serves as the Chairman of the Referee Commission of the Karate India Organisation and is an accredited referee of both the World Karate Federation and the Asian Karate Do Federation. Notably, he is also a proud recipient of the prestigious Bronze Pin Award from the World Karate Federation an international recognition bestowed upon individuals who have made significant and sustained contributions to the development of karate worldwide. This honour reflects not only his technical excellence but also his lifelong dedication to the sport.

Speaking during the seminar, he remarked, “Because in Karate, half knowledge is dangerous true mastery comes only from learning the right way, from the right source. A referee must carry clarity, courage, and integrity in every decision, as they uphold the very spirit of the sport.”
The seminar was marked by highly engaging and practical sessions, including live demonstrations, match situation analysis, and in-depth discussions on rule applications. Participants actively interacted, clarified doubts, and refined their judgment skills ensuring greater consistency and confidence in officiating.
Such initiatives underline a strong Commitment to raising the bar of professionalism and transparency in karate competitions across the state.
The 28th West Bengal State Karate Do Championship is scheduled to be held on 11th and 12th April 2026. This seminar stands as a crucial preparatory milestone, laying a solid foundation for a fair, disciplined, and world-class sporting event.
