Mangaluru is preparing for one of its most impactful public awareness drives as the Drugs Free Mangaluru Initiative takes centre stage under the leadership of Suhail Kandak, Founder and Chairman of the Make A Change Foundation. Launched in association with Mangaluru City Police, the initiative aims to build a safer, drug free and crime free society by strengthening awareness, prevention and community participation across Dakshina Kannada.
The campaign has been designed as a large scale movement that reaches students, youth, parents and local communities through a series of structured programs. Suhail Kandak, who is known for his strong commitment to social development and youth empowerment, is leading this mission with a clear focus on early intervention and mass education. His foundation has worked closely with local authorities to ensure that the initiative addresses real issues faced by families and young people in the region.
Over sixty awareness programs are lined up across Dakshina Kannada as part of the campaign. These include campus based sessions, community outreach activities and interactive workshops aimed at helping students and youngsters understand the risks linked to substance abuse. A dedicated Student Awareness March will bring together participants from various institutions to express unity against the growing influence of drugs among youth.
To extend the reach of the initiative, a digital and social media campaign will amplify the message across online platforms. This will help in connecting with the younger generation, who are increasingly influenced by online behaviour and trends. The launch of the new DrugsFreeYouth website marks another key step, offering verified information, guidance and support for students, educators and families.
Public interaction sessions and opinion gathering drives will also be organised throughout the district. These activities are expected to provide valuable insights into community concerns, helping authorities and social organisations shape future strategies more effectively.
The inaugural ceremony of the Drugs Free Mangaluru Initiative will take place on December 27, 2025, at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The event is set to bring together educators, civic leaders, youth groups and community representatives who share a common goal of creating a secure and healthy future for the region.
With Suhail Kandak at the forefront, the campaign reflects a strong message of responsibility and collective action. His leadership continues to inspire young people to make informed choices and encourages the community to stand united against the threat of drug abuse. The initiative aims to position Mangaluru as a model city in promoting safety, awareness and social responsibility.
