Bhagat Singh Rescue Team
Sriganganagar, Rajasthan: Amid a fast-paced world often marked by indifference, one organization in Rajasthan has quietly redefined what it means to serve with compassion. The Bhagat Singh Rescue Team, Sriganganagar, led by Founder Rajinder Allsikha along with Trusty Kiran Verma, has become a symbol of empathy and dignity through its remarkable humanitarian work. Operating as a non-governmental organization, it focuses on helping those who are forgotten by society — conducting respectful funerals for unclaimed bodies, sheltering the elderly, educating underprivileged children, rescuing animals, and spreading awareness against drug abuse.
The story of this extraordinary initiative began with a single act of humanity that would go on to change lives. Years ago, in Bikaner, a young Rajinder Allsikha witnessed a poor widow struggling to perform the last rites of her husband, who had died during cancer treatment. Moved by her helplessness, he personally arranged the funeral. The experience left an indelible mark on him. “That day I decided that no one should leave this world without dignity,” he recalls. That conviction laid the foundation for what would become the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team — an organization inspired by the revolutionary ideals of Bhagat Singh, symbolizing courage, equality, and selfless service.
Starting from modest means and limited support, Founder Rajinder Allsikha and Trusty Kiran Verma began their mission in Sriganganagar. Initially, they faced skepticism from hospitals and police departments, many of whom were unsure about their intentions. But their persistence and integrity gradually changed perceptions. Today, the same authorities not only acknowledge their work but actively seek their assistance. When an unclaimed body is found, the police often call the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team first to ensure a proper and respectful farewell. Over time, the organization has conducted more than a hundred funerals across Rajasthan and neighboring states, ensuring that every individual, regardless of faith or background, is laid to rest according to their religious traditions — whether through Hindu cremation, Islamic burial, Sikh prayers, or Christian rituals.
What began as a single humanitarian act has now evolved into a movement of compassion with far-reaching impact. The Bhagat Singh Rescue Team runs an old-age home in Sriganganagar, providing accommodation, meals, and healthcare for destitute elders above the age of sixty. It also operates an educational and welfare center for economically weaker and tribal children, offering free schooling, lodging, healthcare, and moral education aimed at holistic development. Alongside human welfare, the organization actively engages in animal rescue and adoption drives, ensuring that injured or abandoned animals receive medical care and shelter. Its involvement in the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) has further broadened its social footprint. In collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau, Health Department, and Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, the NGO conducts rallies, workshops, and cultural programs to fight substance abuse. Every year on June 26, it organizes an “International Seva Run” to spread awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.
Over the years, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team has transformed from a small volunteer group into a respected institution of service. Its work has earned admiration from citizens, law enforcement agencies, and local administrators who recognize its role in restoring dignity and compassion to society. For Founder Rajinder Allsikha, this is not just social work — it is a spiritual duty. Alongside him, Trusty Kiran Verma continues to play a vital role in the organization’s community operations, ensuring that transparency, discipline, and compassion remain at the heart of every initiative. Guided by the belief that “no soul should depart without dignity,” they and their team continue to serve with humility and purpose. Through its ongoing efforts, the Bhagat Singh Rescue Team stands as a quiet yet powerful reminder that humanity’s greatest strength lies in empathy.
