On the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashami, emerging poet and researcher Sudip Chandra Halder organized a food distribution drive in Kashi, aiming to share the festive joy with the neglected, marginalized, and underprivileged sections of society.
During the event, meals were distributed to over 200 people. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Babita Berberia, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Berberia emphasized, “In a just society, equal access to basic necessities must transcend caste, creed, or class. On a day like Vijaya Dashami, it is unacceptable that while some feast, others go hungry or half-fed. This initiative is a step towards reducing such inequality and it is commendable.”
Addressing the gathering, Shri Halder said, “To empower people with dignity, we must first ensure their basic needs are met. Speaking of ethics or spirituality without addressing hunger is not only unacceptable it is unjust. And among all basic needs, having enough food is the most fundamental.”

Sudip Chandra added, “Swami Vivekananda once said what use is religion if you cannot feed the hungry? On this day, when we celebrate the triumph of truth and righteousness by remembering the slaying of Mahishasura and Ravana, our humble effort is to ensure that no one remains hungry.” He further remarked, “Just as chanting Vedic mantras is a form of worship, so too is serving all living beings God’s own creation.” Mr. Halder also extended warm wishes to everyone on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami.
Among those present were Urbi Dubey, Srishti Yadav, Dipanjana Choudhury, Yashvardhan Shukla, Vyom Shukla, Satyam Raj Kashyap, Shibu Kalai, and Arvind Yadav, a police constable from Lanka Police Station, along with several others from Banaras Hindu University.
