A delegation of 20 Nashik students from Ashoka Group of School along with their mentors visit to the Austrian Parliament in Vienna
Nashik | June 2025
The Ashoka Group of Schools proudly led a cohort of 20 student ambassadors from Nashik on a remarkable educational tour to Vienna, Austria. This international experience, centred around diplomacy, sustainability, leadership, and cultural appreciation, offered students rare access to some of the world’s most influential global platforms.
A standout highlight was the visit to the United Nations Office in Vienna and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), where students stepped inside iconic conference rooms and witnessed diplomacy in action. At the UN Symposium, our student leaders delivered powerful presentations on SDG 5, 8, 13, and 16, impressing international delegates with their clarity and conviction. The event was graced by Ms. Nidhi Dhiman, First Secretary and Commercial Representative of the Indian Embassy in Austria, who commended the students for representing India with pride and dignity. The event concluded with a soulful Kathak performance, symbolizing the fusion of intellect and heritage.
Students had the privilege of engaging with Her Excellency Herta Margarete, Princess of Tuscany and members of the Habsburg Royal Family, who appreciated their cultural performance and awarded them honorary badges. The group also visited the Ban Ki Moon Centre for a workshop on Green Jobs and sustainable development, and were granted exclusive entry to the Austrian Parliament—a rare honour.
At the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, one of the oldest institutions of its kind, students interacted with the Director and gained insights on India’s role in BRICS and key global issues in international relations. Their itinerary also included guided visits to major Viennese landmarks like the Opera House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, House of Austrian History, and the majestic Kreuzenstein Castle, where students immersed themselves in medieval culture and European history.
The tour culminated with the Lazarus Union Investiture and Gala Dinner, where our cultural team once again captivated the audience with a graceful Kathak performance, receiving international badges of honour.
The entire visit was coordinated by Dr. Dinesh Sabnis (AGM – Sports and Activities) and the students were accompanied by mentors Ms. Meghana Joshi (Headmistress, Secondary Section) and Ms. Mrudula Tare (Kathak Dance Educator).

“At Ashoka, we believe in shaping not just academically sound individuals but also globally aware, empathetic leaders. The Vienna UN Tour exemplifies our commitment to holistic education that goes far beyond classrooms,” said Ms. Astha Kataria, Managing Trustee, Ashoka Group of Schools.
This unforgettable journey blended education, diplomacy, and cultural pride—giving Ashoka students a platform to explore global challenges, build international networks, and return as confident young changemakers with a broader vision for the world.
