On January 11, 2024, the Human Rights Council of India proudly commemorates its 11th anniversary, marking over a decade of unwavering commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights. On this special occasion, we are delighted to announce the presentation of the esteemed Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to social causes and the betterment of society.
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award, a symbol of recognition and commitment, is bestowed upon those who have tirelessly contributed to the cause of human rights. For the past 9 years, the Human Rights Council of India has been actively engaged in this noble endeavor across 26 states and 9 Union Territories, addressing critical issues such as the dowry system, child labor, communal violence, and misconduct within the prison system.
Our commitment extends beyond geographical boundaries, with a dedicated team of around 60,000 individuals and workers. We persistently strive to eradicate human rights violations such as legal process failures, intimidation in filing FIRs, dishonest practices in encounter cases, rape incidents, unjust dismissals, extortion, non-payment of wages, hunger, and fundamental rights violations. The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Award serves as a beacon of hope and recognition for those who champion the cause of justice in the face of such challenges.
Empowering women, environmental conservation, combating pollution, enforcing traffic rules, and providing legal support to vulnerable members of society are integral aspects of our mission. With strong support from law enforcement, we focus on raising awareness about AIDS, preventing crime, aiding the impoverished, ensuring environmental protection, eradicating child labor and marriage, combatting bribery, preventing female feticide, and taking legal action against food adulteration.
The Human Rights Council of India remains dedicated to addressing atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Tribes, united in raising our collective voice against injustice and discrimination. Each member is committed to the ultimate goal of making a positive impact on society—an unwavering principle and our mantra.
