Parts of the Titanic tourist submersible that sank are being brought to land and seen for the first time since it was destroyed. The submersible, called the Titan, disappeared earlier this month, and a big search was conducted until debris from the submersible was found.
Unfortunately, all five people on board the Titan died. The wreckage of the submersible was discovered about 12,500 feet underwater, approximately 1,600 feet away from where the Titanic is on the ocean floor.
Investigators from the United States, Canada, France, and the United Kingdom are working together to investigate the accident that happened on June 18. The accident took place in a challenging and hard-to-reach area of the North Atlantic Ocean, according to the US Coast Guard.
They have mapped the accident site, but they haven’t mentioned how long the investigation will take. Once they complete the investigation, they will provide a report to the International Maritime Organization. The main goal is to prevent similar incidents and improve safety in the world’s oceans.
