I firmly feel that politics should not be involved in cricket. No problem, in my opinion, is too big to be resolved by sitting across the table. It’s not a major issue. It makes me very sorry to say this, yet officials in our countries prefer to foster enmity between the two nations. If our politicians had avoided cricket, life would have been a lot simpler.
I believe that cricket has evolved into a profession. 18 members of your Indian delegation attended a chess competition that just took place in Lahore. Currently, the Pakistani football squad is heading to India for the SAFF championship. Why not cricket if other sports can go? Stop playing cat and mouse. I’m asking our lawmakers once more to keep politics out of our game and not mix it with cricket by saying, “Keep your politics separate from our game, don’t mix it with cricket.”
If India had chosen to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup, that would have been a wise choice. Sadly, it has not taken place.
