On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda released the party’s manifesto, ‘Praja Dhwani,’ for the May 10 Karnataka elections. In the presence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and party veteran BS Yediyurappa, Nadda unveiled the manifesto.
The party’s platform emphasizes youth welfare, infrastructure development, and women’s empowerment. Some of the party’s top election promises include instituting a uniform civil code, providing three free cooking gas cylinders per year, and providing 0.5 liters of Nandini milk daily to all underprivileged families, as well as establishing an Atal Ahaar Kendra in each ward.
Basavaraj Bommai stated that the manifesto was created with the state’s overall development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka sath, sab ka Vikas’s vision in mind. Nadda emphasized the benefits of a dual-engine government and spoke about the party’s accomplishments and goals.
Here are some of the BJP’s key election promises for Karnataka:
- The BJP plans to establish an ‘Atal Aahara Kendra’ in each ward of each municipal corporation to provide affordable, high-quality, and nutritious food throughout the state.
- The party will launch the ‘Poshana’ scheme, which will provide half a liter of Nandini milk daily and 5 kg of Shri Anna-Siri Dhanya through monthly ration kits to every underprivileged household.
- They will launch the Visvesvaraya Vidya Yojana, through which the state government will collaborate with eminent individuals and institutions to transform government schools into world-class facilities.
- The party intends to launch the ‘Samanvaya’ scheme, which will encourage collaboration between SMEs and ITIs while also creating a dynamic ecosystem of education and employment opportunities for talented young professionals.
- The national party will help aspirant youth advance in their careers by offering financial incentives to students who pursue coaching for IAS/KAS/Banking/Government Jobs.
- Through ‘Mission Swasthya Karnataka’ the party hopes to strengthen the state’s public healthcare infrastructure by establishing one Namma clinic, complete with diagnostic facilities, in each municipal corporation ward. They will also provide senior citizens with a free annual master health check-up.
- The party is considering designating Bengaluru as the ‘State Capital Region’ and implementing a comprehensive, technology-led city development program centered on ease of life, cohesive transportation networks, and enabling ecosystems to make Bengaluru a global hub of digital innovation.
- They plan to make Karnataka a premier electric vehicle hub by installing charging stations, assisting 1,000 startups, converting BMTC buses to fully electric buses, and establishing an “EV City” on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
- The BJP has promised to establish a Rs 30,000 crore K-Agri Fund to establish micro-cold storage facilities and agro-processing units in all GPs, modernize and digitize APMCs, accelerate farm mechanization, and establish 5 new Agro-Industry clusters and 3 new FoodProcessing Parks, supported by a 1,000 strong FPO ecosystem.
- The party plans to spend Rs 1,500 crore to develop the Kalyana Circuit, Banavasi Circuit, Parashurama Circuit, Kaveri Circuit, and Ganagapura Corridor to make Karnataka the most popular tourist destination in India.
- The party wants to expand the scope of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme by incorporating a comprehensive plan that includes logistics, industrial clusters, connectivity, and export facilities, to create 10 lakh manufacturing jobs “beyond Bengaluru.”
- The BJP hopes to improve the quality of life for Bengaluru apartment dwellers by forming the Karnataka Residents’ Welfare Consultative Committee to reform the Karnataka Apartment Ownership Act, 1972, and modernize the grievance redressal mechanism.
- The party intends to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Karnataka based on the recommendations of a high-level committee that will be formed.
- All BPL families will receive three free cooking gas cylinders each year, one during the months of Yugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Deepavali.
- The party will launch the ‘Sarvarigu Suru Yojana,’ under which the Revenue Department will distribute 10 lakh housing sites to homeless beneficiaries across the state.
- The ruling party at the Centre will launch the “Onake Obavva Samajika Nyaya Nidhi” scheme, under which we will match deposits up to â110,000 made under the scheme by women from SC and ST households.
