Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Kerala for two days, laid the groundwork for several projects worth more than Rs 3,200 crore in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
He stated that the central government places a premium on cooperative federalism and believes that as the states develop, so will the country.
India will advance more quickly as Kerala does, Modi said at an event held at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium.
Vande Bharat Express train
The first Vande Bharat Express in Kerala will run from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasargod.
The train has a total seating capacity of 1,000, with 914 seats in chair cars and 86 seats in executive chair cars.
The first train service from Kasaragod will begin on April 26, followed by the first from Thiruvananthapuram on April 28.
According to the published rates, the chair car fare from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod is Rs 1,590, and the executive chair car fare is Rs 2,880.
The ticket prices for the Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam stretch are Rs 765 and Rs 1,420 for the chair car and executive chair car, respectively.
Kochi Water Metro
The Kochi Water Metro connects ten islands around Kochi with the city via battery-powered electric hybrid boats.
Travel time between these locations will be shortened by the AC electric-hybrid boat services on the High Court-Bolgatty-Vypeen route and the Vyttila-Kakkanad route.
People who are experiencing heavy traffic congestion on the roads from the city to the Kakkanad region will be relieved by the Vyttila-Kakkanad service.
Other projects
PM Modi also laid the groundwork for digital science parks in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode, as well as the development of the Varkala-Sivagiri railway station and the overall development of the Kochuveli and Nemom railway stations.
Roadshow
The Prime Minister held a roadshow in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday to launch the projects. The Prime Minister waved to the large crowd gathered by the roadside to welcome him to the city.
PM Modi, who arrived in Kerala for a two-day visit on Monday, also held a mega roadshow in Kochi. PM Modi walked through Kochi’s streets dressed in traditional Kerala garb. People gathered on both sides of the street to applaud the Prime Minister. They also showered flower petals on him.
PM Modi was also seen shaking people’s hands.
