Senior BJP leader KS Eshwarappa announced today that he will not run in the Karnataka election on May 10, fueling speculation that the party is delaying the announcement of candidates.
“I am withdrawing from electoral politics,” Mr. Eshwarappa wrote to BJP President JP Nadda in a letter.
“Over the last 40 years, the party has given me a lot of responsibilities.” I advanced from booth chief to state party chief. “I also had the honor of becoming Deputy Chief Minister,” he wrote in Kannada in a brief letter. He stated that he made the decision on his own.
Mr. Eshwarappa may have made this move as a precaution after hinting last month that he would be dropped as a candidate.
PM Modi has asked us to respect all religions, but I have to wonder if Allah can only hear if you scream into a microphone. This problem must be resolved as soon as possible.” Mr. Eshwarappa made a remark.
“Even though we Hindus pray in temples, recite shlokas, and sing bhajans, we have more faith than them, and it is Bharat Mata who protects religions, but if you say Allah only listens if you pray with a microphone, I have to wonder if he’s deaf.” It is not required; the problem must be resolved.”
The BJP has pushed the announcement of candidates for the 224-member assembly election to the very last minute. Nominations are due by Thursday.
To finalize candidates, the party has held marathon meetings.
Many sitting MLAs have been dropped, according to reports, and defectors from the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular who helped install a BJP government will be rewarded.
