On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Hyderabad to inaugurate a slew of projects. Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, other BJP leaders, and Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav greeted the PM as he arrived at Begumpet airport. K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister, did not attend Modi’s welcome.
The Prime Minister then went to Secunderabad Railway Station to signal the departure of the Vande Bharat Secunderabad-Tirupati train. The Secunderabad Railway Station has been decorated for the occasion with floral decorations and a red carpet covering a large portion of the platform. In addition, Modi will launch 13 new MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport Service) services.
While the BJP erected dozens of sign boards and banners along the roads leading to the railway station, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti erected pink flags and banners as well. According to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, the PM will inaugurate projects worth more than Rs 11,000 crore in Telangana.
The completed Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar double railway line will be dedicated to the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he flags off the Vande Bharat train between Secunderabad and Tirupati. He will also lay the cornerstone for the development of the Secunderabad railway station. PM Modi will lay the groundwork for six national highway projects worth over Rs 7,500 crore, as well as the development of AIIMS, Bibinagar, worth over Rs 1,300 crore, at Parade Grounds.
According to the South Central Railway (SCR), this is the second Vande Bharat Express from Telangana in three months. According to SCR, India’s indigenous semi-high-speed train will cut travel time between the two cities by nearly three and a half hours and will be especially beneficial for pilgrims from both Telugu states.
The 13 new MMTS services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region will provide commuters in the twin city region with a fast, convenient, and comfortable travel option. The new services expand these services to new areas of the twin city region, providing the most cost-effective, safe, and comfortable travel option for daily commuters, students, office goers, etc.
The doubling and electrification of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar project, which the PM will dedicate to the nation, spans 85.24 kilometers and cost nearly Rs 1,410 crore to complete. The project included the construction of nine major bridges, 152 minor bridges, and the removal of 17-level crossing gates to improve the safety of both road users and train operations.
The project’s completion will decongest this congested section, increasing the likelihood of the introduction of both passenger and freight trains. The project will improve train average speeds by providing seamless connectivity. The project will also help people in the region’s socioeconomic development. The PM will also lay the groundwork for the Rs 720 crore redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station.
The station, which is the busiest in Telangana, will be completely renovated, with world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic station building. The station is being redeveloped to serve as a new City Centre, generating business opportunities and revenue for the community. The redeveloped station would have a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities in one location, as well as spaces for retail, cafeterias, recreational facilities, segregation of arrival/departure of passengers, lifts, escalators, travelators, multilevel car parking, and multimodal connectivity, among other things.
