It’s natural to be starstruck when you see your favorite celebrity, but it’s unnatural to forget your boundaries. With pop culture at every turn, the lines between privacy and space have blurred. A news website believes it is acceptable to photograph a celebrity sitting in their living room. Fans believe it is acceptable to hug them without asking.
With the advent of social media and the Internet, the world has literally shrunk to the size of a village. But, in our need for constant connection, we seem to have forgotten the importance of personal space and how everyone — INCLUDING PUBLIC FIGURES — requires it.
Take a look at these top 5 moments when fans went too far with celebrities:
1. Priyanka Chopra’s arms are being held by a fan
During the days of Anjaana Anjaani, Priyanka Chopra had an unwanted encounter with a creepy fan. The man grabbed her arms and began photographing her; the actress slapped him and ran away.
“I am very good with taking pictures and everything, but I don’t like physically being touched,” the actress said of the incident. So he just grabbed my hand and began asking for pictures. I became terrified and grabbed his collar and slapped him. “Then I got scared and ran away,” Business Standard reported.
2. A fan who wishes to have John Abraham’s skin in her nails
John Abraham revealed in a 2016 show called M Bole Toh that a group of excited female fans once surrounded him in Holland and put their hands under his shirt.
The incident was described as “sweet” by the actor. But that isn’t all. Blood was discovered near the actor’s chest. When he inquired about it, the fan replied, “I wanted your skin in my nail.”
3. A fan grabs Shah Rukh Khan’s hand to take a selfie
SRK had just exited the Mumbai airport with his sons when a fan grabbed his hand and began taking selfies. It was an unwanted invasion of personal space.
4. A fan grabs Akshay Kumar’s forehead for a click
When Akshay Kumar arrived at an event, he was greeted by a large crowd of fans. A fan literally pulled him by his hair while he was walking through to take his picture.
Surprisingly, the actor attempted to grab the fan’s arm before walking away with a warning gesture. While the video of the incident went viral on social media, it demonstrated how entitled fans can take everything for granted.
5. Hrithik Roshan’s fan broke through security to take a selfie with him
Hrithik Roshan was in town with his sons. He was waiting for them to enter the car when a fan barged in and attempted to take a selfie. The actor was enraged by the fan. Meanwhile, his security personnel reprimanded others who surrounded the car.
Everyone enjoys their own personal space. It’s a basic human requirement. You simply CANNOT touch someone without their permission. IT IS NOT AND WILL NEVER BE OKAY.
