According to Congress’s social media in-charge Supriya Shrinate, Congress leader Pawan Khera was reportedly de-boarded from IndiGo flight 6E204 en route to Raipur on February 23.
A delegation was on its way from Delhi to Raipur, where the party’s 85th plenary is set to begin on Friday. Other Congress leaders accompanying him included Supriya Shrinate, Randeep Singh Surjewala, and K.C. Venugopal.
Mr. Khera stated that he was asked to leave the plane due to baggage issues. “I’m not sure why I was deplaned. “I was told that they needed to check my luggage, and even though I only had a handbag, they insisted that I leave the plane,” he explained. “I’ve been informed that the DCP will meet me on the tarmac.”
Chaos reigned on the tarmac at New Delhi International Airport, where members descended and chanted anti-BJP slogans. Members can be heard saying “BJP hai hai” and “Yeh tanashahi nahi chalegi” in a video shared by Congress (this dictatorial attitude is unfair).
Mr. Khera recently made a jab at the BJP government’s alleged support for Gautam Adani and inaction on the Hindenburg report during a press conference. The Congress spokesperson referred to Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi as “Narendra Gautamdas Modi” during a press conference.
“We are all on the @IndiGo6E flight 6E 204 to Raipur and all of a sudden my colleague @Pawankhera has been asked to deplane,” Ms. Shrinate wrote on Twitter. What kind of arrogance is this? Is there any legal system? “On what grounds is this being done, and by whom?”
The Congress party was also outraged by the “dictatorial” move.
“This is a dictatorial mindset. The dictator conducted ED raids before the session, and now he has resorted to this type of behavior,” the Congress tweeted.
According to senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the incident represented a “murder” of democratic India. “In India, freedom of speech is gradually eroding, but freedom of speech is rapidly becoming extinct. My colleague @Pawankhera was departing from a flight bound for Raipur. Another attempt to derail Congress Plenary after ED raids. The murder of Democratic India is the appropriate abbreviation for Him,” he wrote.
