The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined Go First airline Rs 10 lakh for leaving behind 55 passengers at Bengaluru airport on January 9. The aviation regulator issued a notification to the airline about the incident a day later. The passengers, who were scheduled to board aircraft G8 116 to Delhi, were left behind on the passenger coach, as previously reported by HT.
“Go First failed to comply with the provision provided at para 9 and 13 of CAR Section 3, Series C, Part II issued by DGCA resulting in a violation of Para (1A) of Rule 134 read with Schedule XI of the Aircraft Rules, 1937,” the DGCA stated at the time. M/s Go First failed to comply with the provision outlined in ATC 02 of 2019.”
“It is pertinent to mention that DGCA has issued Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) Section -3, Series-C, Part-II on “Minimum Requirements for Grant of Air Operator Certificate to Operate Scheduled Air Transport Services (Passenger)” and Air Transport Circular 02 of 2019 on ‘Facilities/Courtesies to the esteemed traveling public at airports,” it continued. According to the aviation regulator, “many mistakes” might be easily prevented.
Meanwhile, the airline apologized for the incident, which it said was “triggered due to an unintended error”. “Passengers were accommodated on different airlines to Delhi and then on to other destinations,” according to the statement. It has also given a free ticket for those who are affected. “In keeping with our customer-centric culture, the airline has chosen to provide all impacted customers with one complimentary ticket for travel on any domestic sector over the next 12 months.” It further stated that all employees “would be off roster” until the investigation was completed.
