Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to reach out to minorities, particularly Muslims, without expecting votes in return. Modi reportedly spoke about areas where the party needs to be reinforced ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in his valedictory presentation to the BJP’s two-day national executive conference in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“The PM directed BJP activists to interact with Pasmanda Muslims, the Bohra community, Muslim professionals, and educated Muslims without demanding votes in return,” according to ANI.
He also advised followers to pay visits to universities and churches.
Modi stated that under the resolution ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat,’ all states should cooperate and be tolerant of each other’s language and culture.
In a speech described by numerous participants as his huge goal to expand the BJP and lead the country in every aspect, Modi also underlined that roughly 400 days remain until the 2024 Lok Sabha election and exhorted party workers to serve every area with complete dedication.
He also advised party members to avoid making meaningless remarks on movies, as this puts the party’s growth agenda on the back burner.
Some party leaders frequently criticize movies, the latest example being Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan,’ for “hurting” people’s sentiments.
People in the 18-25 age range, according to Modi, have not witnessed India’s political past and are unaware of “corruption and wrongdoings” committed by previous regimes.
Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, told reporters that Modi emphasized reaching out to all sections of society and that his address was not that of a political leader but of a statesman, emphasizing that the nation came first.
Modi mentioned the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, which was recently conducted in Varanasi to commemorate ancient spiritual ties between the two regions and urged party members to engage with people from other cultures.
