Kalyani Sankrityayan’s Bio
Kalyani is the sole founder of Rainvas and hails from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Coming from a family of academicians, it was a challenge to land in the field of entrepreneurship.
She embarked upon her journey right after graduating from school. The motive behind that was to make extra bucks during college, besides not to waste her inborn artistic skills, and she soon transitioned it into a full-time business.
Without any knowledge or background in entrepreneurship, not even from her extended family, she took a risk in rolling out a career in art and business.
Over the years, she has gained popularity for her fan art and handicrafts, especially the Harry Potter and Friends series.
What are Kalyani Sankrityayan’s greatest milestones in her life journey?
When most businesses were closing down, she and her business survived and even expanded. They launched another small business of handmade jewelry, yet again supporting another art community in Bengal. They have made many international sales since 2020, most of them to the USA and their stories are published every now and then by business bloggers, social platforms, and magazines (their first magazine feature was done in 2021). She is a sincere worker. Whatever she does, she does it with dedication. Society’s words bother her the least, and that is the number one reason she is who she is today and has been able to achieve the life that she desired. Her greatest strength is the customers and clients who keep encouraging her and do not want her to ever shut down.
her work.
What are the lessons from the challenges Kalyani Sankrityayan faced and how did she overcome them?
When she started her business, her family was not happy with the decision. Neither were many of her friends and relatives and even now she is told to give up and pick something more commonly chosen for women in small towns as a career option. Now it has been 4 years since she got herself involved with this and the same people who were against it now call her up just to say how proud they are of her achievements. She comes from a family of academicians, hence a self-taught artist, and running a business without any guidance was a risk, but she has made it so far and will go further ahead in the future. She comes from non-business family background and thus thinks it will always be a challenge for her to get acquainted with business jargon, ideas, and resources.
