A day after staging a massive protest near the Pakistan high commission in Delhi against the country’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s “highly shameful and derogatory” remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers will stage a nationwide protest on Saturday.
“Protests will take place in all state capitals across the country. BJP Karyakartas will burn the effigy of Pakistan and its Foreign Minister, and will strongly condemn Pakistan’s Foreign Minister’s shameful statement “On Friday, the BJP issued a statement.
Points to remember from the BJP’s nationwide protest against Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
1. The BJP will protest Pakistani Foreign Minister Asif Zardari’s defamatory remarks at a press conference at the United Nations in New York.
2. The BJP described Zardari’s remarks as “highly derogatory and full of cowardice,” claiming they were made to divert global attention away from Pakistan’s collapsing economy, lawlessness, and anarchy.
3. On Friday, BJP workers protested the Pakistan minister’s statement outside the Pakistan High Commission in the national capital. According to the BJP, while India’s foreign policy is praised around the world, Pakistan is facing criticism from even smaller countries.
4. In the meantime, India condemned Zardari for his “uncivilised outburst” at Modi. Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), stated, “These remarks are unprecedented, even in Pakistan. The frustration of Pakistan’s foreign minister would be better directed at the masterminds of terrorist operations in his own country, who have made terrorism a part of their state policy. Pakistan must change its mindset or risk remaining a pariah state.”
5. On Thursday, EAM S Jaishankar chastised Pakistan for its role in funding and spreading terrorism, advising Islamabad to clean up its act and strive to be a good neighbour.
