Rajpal Yadav
Renowned Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav finds himself in fresh financial and legal trouble after the Central Bank of India initiated formal proceedings to auction his properties in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The step Comes following an unpaid loan default that has now accumulated to Rs 16.61 crore. Bank officials have already posted official attachment notices on the properties, signaling strict recovery Measures unless the actor settles the outstanding dues.
the assets earmarked for the upcoming online recovery process include a residential property situated in Shahjahanpur city, alongside an ancestral house and agricultural land located in Kundra village within the district. According to banking representatives, the properties carry a combined reserve valuation of approximately Rs 3.19 crore. The bank has scheduled the e-auction for September 9, giving a limited window for the actor to clear the liabilities or reach a formal settlement agreement.
The origin of this substantial debt dates back several years to the establishment of the production venture, Navrang Godavari Entertainment Limited. To fund his ambitious directorial project, the 2012 musical comedy Ata Pata Laapata, a loan of Rs 5 crore was secured from the Bandra Kurla Complex branch of the Central Bank of India in Mumbai. However, the movie failed to perform at the box office, resulting in heavy losses that severely disrupted the repayment timeline. Over the years, compounded interest and accumulated penalty charges caused the principal amount to surge past Rs 16 crore.
To secure the initial financing, collateral pledged to the financial institution included real estate assets registered under the names of the actor’s wife, Radha Yadav, and his mother, Godavari Yadav. Due to non-payment over an extended duration, the bank initiated enforcement measures against these pledged assets. Similar recovery steps were previously executed in August 2024, when bank officials sealed portions of his Shahjahanpur property after dues had crossed Rs 11 crore. Parallel recovery proceedings and legal reviews are currently underway regarding his assets located in Mumbai as well.
responding to the recent development, members of the actor’s family expressed Optimism regarding an amicable resolution. His elder brother, Shripal Yadav, stated that discussions with bank officials are actively progressing to structure a suitable repayment plan, reiterating confidence that the matter will be settled before the proposed auction date. Despite these assertions, bank officials Confirmed that attachment notices remain legally active until the necessary payments are formally processed.
