India Para Powerlifting has announced the appointment of Gourav Bedi as Director of Strategy & Planning – India Para Powerlifting unit of Paralympic Committee of India, marking an important step towards strengthening strategic leadership and long-term planning within the organisation.
The official appointment letter was presented to Gourav Bedi by IRS JP Singh and SP Sangwan, recognising his role in supporting structured planning, organisational development, and athlete-centric initiatives. On accepting the responsibility, Gourav Bedi expressed his gratitude and stated that he is honoured to take on this role. He reaffirmed his commitment to work sincerely towards the development, growth, and welfare of para athletes, while contributing positively to the future direction of India Para Powerlifting.
Support Role at World Para Athletics Championships

Following his appointment, Gourav Bedi was present at the World Para Athletics Championships with the primary purpose of supporting and encouraging para athletes. He did not participate in the competition but remained actively involved in interacting with athletes, team officials, and organisers. The championship witnessed participation from para athletes representing many countries from across the world, competing at the highest international level.
During the event, Gourav Bedi also met Mr. Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). The interaction focused on discussions related to athlete welfare, strategic development, and strengthening India’s para sports ecosystem. The meeting reflected a shared vision for improving support systems and creating better opportunities for par a athletes in the country.
