DR. S. PRABAKARAN
Dr. S. Prabakaran has been awarded the 120th Award ” Deivapulavar Thiruvalluvar Golden Professor Award-2026” in 9th January 2026 on “International Muthamizh Viruthu Vizha-2026” organized in Sivanthi Adhithanar College, Nagarcoil, Tamilnadu, collaboration with Folklore Arts and Research Centre, Madurai ; Tamil Development Centre-Arts and Culture Department, Government of Puducherry ; and World Tamil Conservation Research Institute, Malasia, for his significant contribution and honourable achievements in the innovative research and valuable services in the field of education.
Dr. S. Prabakaran’s academic journey has been marked by a dedication to understanding the complexities of historical narratives. He earned his Doctorate in History from University of Madras in 2004, specializing in Economic History that often reflect the economic, socio-political dynamics of India. His comprehensive understanding of historical methodologies and critical analysis has positioned him as a valuable resource for students seeking to navigate the intricate landscape of historical studies.
As an educator, Dr.S. Prabakaran emphasizes the importance of critical thinking, encouraging students to engage actively with sources and to question prevailing narratives. He was promoted to HOD of History in 2016 and retained that position through July 2021, and again in second term he retained the same position on 1st September 2025. He has 29 years of research experience in addition to 13 years of teaching experience, in which 6 years as HOD. He has garnered 121 Awards at the National and International levels including 9 Lifetime Achievements Awards so far. He has guided 30 M.Phil. scholars, published 3 books, edited 12 books, written 24 book chapters, edited 4 Proceedings with an ISBN number, organised 4 National level Seminars and 2 National level Symposiums, organised 21 guest lectures, and more. He has been conducting free IAS coaching for students in the college since 2017.
His teaching methodologies are rooted in the belief that history is not a mere recounting of events but a dynamic field that requires interpretation and analysis. Dr. S.Prabakaran employs a diverse range of pedagogical techniques that cater to various learning styles, making the subject accessible to all students. As Book Author & Editor
One of the significant impacts Dr. S.Prabakaran has made in the field of history is through his research on regional histories, particularly those concerning Tamil Nadu. Dr.S.Prabakaran has written three books, two books in Tamil and one in English. He has Edited 4 Proceedings and published with ISBN. His most important contribution of the edited book on “The Complete History of Tamilnadu” which has been published so far 8 Volumes by Integrated Publications, New Delhi and the 9th Volume is in progress. The other Two books edited by him for IIP Proceedings, by Iterative International Publishers, USA.

In recent years, Dr.S. Prabakaran has participated in various seminars and workshops aimed at reinvigorating historical scholarship. Dr. S. Prabakaran has presented his research papers at numerous National and International Conferences and Seminars. He has taken part in several training sessions over the years, including 2 Orientation sessions, 6 Refresher sessions, 73 Webinars, 78 Online quizzes, 25 National level Seminars and Conferences, 24 Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), One Short-Term course, and more. He organised 20 Online quizzes and presented 4 vital guest lectures in other colleges. In Seminars and Conferences held at the State and National levels, he has presented 16 research articles. In journals that are listed by UGC, he has published 35 research papers.

Moreover, Dr. S.Prabakaran recognizes the implications of digital technology on the field of history. With the advent of digital archives and online resources, historical research has become more accessible. He emphasizes the importance of digital literacy among history students, equipping them with skills to navigate digital spaces effectively. Dr.S.Prabakaran has conducted 20 International Level Online Quiz Programmes during the Academic Year 2020-2021 and so that he has been received 5 National Awards from Five organisations, such as, HOD of the Year Award-2021 (InSc); Best HOD of the Year-2021 (Magic Book of Records); Best HOD of the Year-2021 (Karnataka Educational Awards); Best HOD of the Year Award-2021 (GECL, Dehradun, Uttarakhand) and Best HOD of the Year 2021 (FireBoxx).

Dr.S.Prabakaran has received 100th Award as “International Nobel Award-2024” from International American Council for Research and Development, USA & Perambalur, on 24-11-2024 for his significant contribution and honourable achievements in the innovative research and valuable services in the field of education. Dr. S. Prabakaran received the 103rd Award “The Great Rajaraja Cholan Golden Professor Award-2025” on “International Muthamizh Awards -2025” organized by Madurai Muthamizh Folklore Research Centre; USA Tamil Association and Madurai Yadava College in Madurai, Tamilnadu on 10th January 2025 for his significant contribution and honourable achievements in the innovative research and valuable services in the field of education. He has so far garnered 121 Awards at the National and International levels including “Honorary Doctorate Award-2025” from Sahara Charitable Trust on January 2025. He excels as a scholar, educator, author, mentor, news anchor, and social activist.

Dr. S. Prabakaran has been awarded the 112th Award “Rashtriya Ratna Puraskar Award-2025” (India’s Pride Global Best Professor Award-2025) in 15th August 2025 on the eve of Independence Day, in MTTV India, Rajasthan for his valuable services in the field of education.

Free IAS Coaching
Dr.S.Prabakaran has contributed a lot for the upliftment of the poor students in his college. He has organized number of Seminars and Conferences and Guest Lectures, historical tours, etc. Notably, he has been conducting free IAS coaching since 2017 for the college students who wish to apply for Civil Services Examinations and other Competitive Examinations.

Beginning in the year 2000, Dr. S. Prabakaran began his career in the media as a News Reader and Compere. He continued in this role on Satellite TV channels like Pothigai TV (Compere), Mega TV (News Reader), and Imayam TV till 2015.
News Reading Trainer
Dr.S.Prabakaran had given training for the persons who wished to become a News Anchor in TV Channels. He had worked as News Reading Trainer in a private training Centre in T.Nagar, Chennai, from 2009 to 2011. He had trained more than 110 news reading aspirants and after successfully completed the course, most of them got job in TV Channels.
