Rudra Solar Energy, in collaboration with Citizen Foundation, has successfully completed the installation of advanced Solar Dryers in Leh, Ladakh. These high-efficiency solar dryers will be used to dry apple, apricot, chilli, tomato, and various other fruits, vegetables, spices, and food products that are commonly produced in the region.
With this initiative, over 400+ local residents will now get direct work opportunities in handling, processing, and managing dried products. This project aims to provide sustainable employment, support local farmers, and strengthen Ladakh’s agricultural economy.
Solar drying technology helps increase the shelf life of perishable items by preventing spoilage and reducing food loss. Instead of wasting produce due to short storage life, farmers and communities can now preserve, package, and sell high-value dried products, boosting their income and ensuring year-round availability.
Rudra Solar Energy encourages individuals and small businesses across India to start their own dried food business from home using solar dryers. The system requires no electricity, helps save energy costs, and delivers premium-quality dried products suitable for domestic and export markets.
