Sudip Chandra Halder
On the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, a grand literary gathering, poetry recitation session, and felicitation ceremony was held at the heart of Kolkata. The event was organized by the promising publishing house Oikkyotan.
A total of 28 books were launched during the program. Nearly two hundreds(200) literature enthusiasts participated in the program.
Renowned emerging poet and researcher Sudip Chandra Halder graced the event as Guest of Honour. Other special guests included Professor Tabarak Ali and Sultana Parveen. Poet Sudip was ceremoniously welcomed with a traditional uttoriyo and presented with the Sharad Samman — a commemorative certificate of honor.
In his address, the poet said:
“Today, there’s a festive spirit all around. The atmosphere of Durga Puja in Kolkata has begun since early morning with Birendra Kishore Bhadra’s recitation of the Chandi. The fields are blooming with Kash flowers — it feels as though nature itself is ready to welcome the Mata Durga. An event like this, at the dawn of the Devi Paksha, is truly remarkable.”
He further added:
“Bengali literature is immensely rich — a treasure of world literature. Young writers have a crucial role to play in advancing this legacy.”
He also cautioned:
“We must all remain vigilant so that the misuse of technology does not harm literature in any way.”
In his speech, Professor Tabarak Ali said:
“In this age flooded with technology, it is truly heartening to see young people gathering around literature. I feel proud to be here.”

Poet Sultana Parveen remarked:
“I’m overwhelmed by the dedication of the new generation of writers.”
The three-hour-long aesthetically pleasing event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sangbad Sahu, the head of Oikyotan Publication, who called for everyone’s continued support in the journey ahead.
Among the other notable attendees were Riyali Basu, Nilima Mondal, Soumi Sarkar, Debasish Roy, Moumita Guria, Biprokash Das among others.
