Gaurav Tekriwal
Kampala, Uganda – July 2025
Renowned Vedic Mathematics educator and international speaker, Gaurav Tekriwal, was invited to participate as the key note speaker in the 45th Annual Conference and Award Ceremony of the Uganda Mathematical Society (UMS) held in Kampala, Uganda. The conference brought together leading mathematicians, educators, researchers, and students from across Uganda and other parts of the world to explore the theme: “Mathematics, Art, and Creativity.”
Mr. Tekriwal was honoured to deliver a keynote address on the topic of Vedic Mathematics and the conference theme, highlighting India’s ancient and intuitive system of mental math. His talk focused on how Vedic Maths can bridge traditional knowledge systems with modern pedagogy, and how it fosters both creativity and speed in mathematical thinking.
“The response was overwhelming,” said Tekriwal. “It was deeply fulfilling to witness such curiosity and enthusiasm from Ugandan educators and students alike. The passion for mathematics here is inspiring.”
The conference featured a series of academic sessions, teacher workshops, and student presentations, showcasing innovative research and teaching strategies. Mr. Tekriwal also had the opportunity to engage with policy-makers and grassroot educators, exchanging ideas on how India and Uganda can collaborate to strengthen mathematics education.
A highlight of the visit was attending the Award Ceremony of the Uganda Mathematical Society, where outstanding contributions in mathematics education and research were celebrated. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the importance of recognising excellence and fostering a culture of learning and innovation.

In addition to the conference, Mr. Tekriwal spent time experiencing Uganda’s rich culture and warm hospitality. “From the dynamic conference discussions to the lively streets of Kampala, every moment was memorable. I return with lifelong connections and a renewed commitment to promoting mathematical literacy globally,” he added.
The visit marks a significant step in cross-continental educational exchange, and Mr. Tekriwal expressed his intent to further build partnerships between Indian and Ugandan institutions, particularly in the promotion of Vedic Mathematics in Uganda.
