Tancy Renu Pal
In a society where menstrual health remains a whispered taboo, Tancy Renu Pal is boldly rewriting the narrative—one pad at a time. A passionate advocate, artist, and changemaker, Tancy’s campaign “Pads for Freedom” goes beyond hygiene. It’s a powerful stand for dignity, education, and equal rights for every menstruating individual.
Tancy’s Story: From Struggles to Strength
Growing up in Rohini, Delhi, and now living in Dubai, Tancy’s journey hasn’t been easy. Financial hardships meant she had to grow up quickly. From a young age, she juggled school and work, showing a level of maturity beyond her years.
At just 16, she began working as a background dancer in a music video. This early step into the creative world sparked her passion and gave her a sense of independence.
Though she dreamed of going to college full-time, her circumstances didn’t allow it. Instead, she pursued her degree through distance learning from Delhi University—proving that determination and passion matter more than privilege.
The Moment That Changed Everything
Tancy’s journey to fight period shame started with a powerful experience. At just 14, during a visit to Uttar Pradesh, she went to buy sanitary pads. But many shops refused to sell them. One shop finally agreed—but the shopkeeper asked, “Bachha kiske ghar hua hai?” (“Whose baby has been born?”), thinking pads were only for women who just had a baby.
Tancy was shocked. That question made her realize how little people knew about periods—and how much shame was tied to them, especially in villages.
She had once used cloth during her period because pads weren’t available. So she knew the struggle. That day didn’t just upset her—it lit a fire in her. It became the moment that pushed her to take action and start a movement.
Choosing Courage, Not Comfort
Tancy’s journey has been full of challenges. Choosing dance as a career, speaking openly about periods, and going against what society expects took real bravery. She didn’t have mentors or money—just strong will and a big dream.
She built everything from the ground up, learning new things and growing stronger every day.
Her belief is simple but powerful:
“Empower with kindness, teach to bring change, and speak up—even if it’s hard.”
This mindset drives everything she does and inspires others to be bold too.
More Than Just a Crown
For Tancy, joining Miss Grand India isn’t about fame or looking glamorous. It’s about making a difference.
“Pageants aren’t just about beauty. They give us a chance to speak up, break taboos, and bring real issues into the spotlight,” she says.
She’s using this platform to spread awareness about menstrual health and start open conversations that matter—because every voice can lead to change.
Building A Better Future
Tancy Renu Pal isn’t chasing quick fame—she’s focused on creating real, lasting change. Her dream is to make menstrual health a normal and accepted part of life, not something to be hidden or ashamed of. Through her initiative Pads for Freedom, she aims to reach girls and women across India with access to safe and affordable sanitary products. She also wants to mentor young women who are passionate about creating positive change in their communities. On a global level, Tancy plans to advocate for better menstrual health policies and raise awareness about the challenges many still face. In the future, she hopes to launch her own eco-friendly menstrual care brand, combining health, dignity, and sustainability. Her mission is simple: to build a world where no girl is held back because of her period.
Tancy Renu Pal shows that one person, one pad, and one strong mission can truly change lives. Her work doesn’t just question old beliefs—it speaks out against the silence that surrounds periods. As she keeps fighting for menstrual dignity and equal rights, her journey reminds us that true change begins when we speak up and care for others.
In Tancy’s eyes, the color red isn’t something to hide—it stands for strength, courage, and the power to create a better future.
