Rakhi empathises with every broken soul who has been tested by circumstances and their very own loved ones who abused them behind closed doors. “Love and abuse don’t go together.”
A victim of abuse and sexual molestation as a child. Rakhi has been fiercely driven to write about sensitive topics through her impactful books related to mental health, narcissistic and toxic relationships and child abuse. She is the two-time recipient of The International Golden book awards 2023 and 2024 for her books Now You Breathe and Breaking free Embracing Me which deals with sensitive and tabooed topics like narcissistic abuse behind closed doors at home or work place which the society chooses to remain hush about. Five of her books topped the best seller chart in its category on Amazon India.
Author Rakhi Kapoor has authored twenty-six books, her first book, “The Girl Who Was Left Behind” in 2017 – is a story which transcribed from her personal experience in her first trek wandering the Himalayan ranges of Nepal for six nights and five days. Rakhi failed to endure the high altitude, testing circumstances and harsh weather of the mountains and was estranged from her group. She found her way back to civilisation unearthing the courage and resilience within to return safely home in to her nine-year-old son Ricky’s arms.
Rakhi Kapoor is also a pioneering physiotherapist specialising in prenatal counselling. She makes pregnancy and motherhood which is the most challenging phase of a women’s life enjoyable and stress free. Rakhi’s own traumatic experiences during her childbirth almost succumbing to medical complications inspired her to curate programs for pregnant women pioneering the unheard concept of prenatal counselling in India two decades ago.
Young couples in nuclear families, single parents and women with careers find it extremely challenging to balance their professional and personal life against demands of pregnancy, childbirth, breast feeding and parenting. Mood swings and postpartum depression is real. Women need help to deal with such issues instead of shirking it away casually as a common occurrence.
Having grappled through and overcome post-natal depression and various hardships balancing her personal and professional commitments Rakhi chose to become the voice of young moms and sensitise the Indian men and families towards their needs through her books and couples counselling sessions.
Rakhi has published a one-of-a-kind book for Indian men called expecting Daddy delivers which has been translated in to Hindi titled Behtar Pati Behatareen Pita. Mums’ mental health and milestones is another book written by Rakhi which stresses on the significance of the expecting mother’s mental health for better maternal and foetal health outcomes.
Rakhi strongly advocates one message of self-realisation: “No one is coming to save us unless we decide to take the first step towards our victory or liberation.”
Rakhi Kapoor has been recognised and awarded in many prestigious forums. The winner of the Nari Shakthi awards 2025 Rakhi Kapoor was also awarded the Rashtriya Pratibha Samman Award 2024 for her work in the field of Mental health. She received the International Inspiration women’s award (IIWA) subsequently for two years 2024 and 2023 by the GiSR Foundation in New Delhi for raising awareness about Narcissistic Abuse and Child Abuse through her books. Rakhi has been awarded the author of the year 2022 at the National Achievers Award in New Delhi.
She has received the Life time Achievement award 2024 for her writing by the Indian Awaz Foundation in Guahati Assam. Rakhi Kapoor has been awarded the Women Rising Star title in the 6th Asian Litfest 2024 in New Delhi conducted by the Asian Literary Society. Rakhi Kapoor has been recognized as the Women face of the year and 100 influential personalities of 2023 by Fox Story India. She has received the Exceptional Women of Excellence Award 2022 by Yuukke, a global ecosystem for women entrepreneurs.
A Tedx speaker, passionate trekker and globetrotter, Rakhi’s adventurous spirit and personal challenges deeply influence her writing and mission in life to inspire resilience and healing.
