A chaotic incident occurred on the newly inaugurated Meerut-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express when a woman and her companion claimed they were harassed and mistreated by BJP workers on the train.
The woman recounted that while they were moving through the train to get food, a man blocked their path, insisting that the cabin was reserved for BJP members and that they couldn’t pass through. When they attempted to return, the situation escalated into a heated argument and physical confrontation.
“We were trying to get food when an uncle stopped us, saying this cabin was for BJP members only and we couldn’t pass through,” the woman told reporters onboard. “When we were heading back, they started arguing, pushed us, and questioned why we were moving around the cabin so much. We are also connected to the BJP, but these people are giving the party a bad name.”
Her companion, who described themselves as BJP supporters and influencers invited to cover the train’s inauguration, expressed anger over the incident, saying, “BJP hired us as influencers, yet they treat the Vande Bharat Express train like their personal property and were misbehaving with my sister.”
The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed condemning the behavior, stating, “This is completely unacceptable. The train is public property, not a personal or BJP asset.” The Congress party also shared a viral clip of the incident, commenting that it reflects the “conduct, character, and face of the BJP.”
