The city of Darbhanga in Bihar has once again made its mark in the field of martial arts, thanks to the outstanding efforts of its karatekas under the guidance of Mukesh Mishra. These talented athletes showcased their skills and emerged victorious in the recently concluded 2nd edition of the Azadi Cup All India Karate Championship 2024. The event, organized by the Institute of Martial Arts, was held in Patna on August 25. The Darbhanga Karate Kids, coached by Mukesh Mishra, stole the show with their impressive performances, securing three gold, three silver, and six bronze medals for Bihar.
The Championship consisted of both male and female participants ranging from the age of 7 to 25 years old. They competed in different categories such as Kata (form), Kumite (sparring), and Team Kata, and emerged victorious in each one. 8 years old boy Shloka Raushan, 10 years old girl Yami Anand and 11 years old girl Aaradhya dominated their categories with their impressive lifts and technique, earning them well-deserved gold medals.
Rajveer Raman, Chinmay Sagar and Akriti Jha showed great determination and skill, securing silver medals for their performances. Nanditha Anish, Jyoti Kumari, Asfand Ahmar, Anuj Singh, Rudra Raman, and Yashika Raushan also put on a strong showing, earning bronze medals for Bihar in their respective categories.
Darbhanga Karate kids have been training rigorously under the guidance of coach Mukesh Mishra, who himself is a renowned former karateka and has represented State & Nation in numerous competitions across the country. His expertise and dedication have played a crucial role in shaping these young athletes into champions.
Mukesh Mishra (Bihar State Karate Team Coach & Head Coach of Darbhanga District) Said , This tournament is a great opportunity for young karatekas to gain valuable experience and improve their skills. He stated, “These young karatekas are the future of our sport and it is important for them to learn and master different techniques at a young age. This tournament will give them a chance to do just that and I am confident that they will make the most out of it.
