A 15 Year old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two young men within the grounds of the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jodhpur, as reported by police officials on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Sunday night, but the police were only notified on Monday evening.
According to Anil Kumar, the assistant commissioner of police in Pratap Nagar, the girl had left her home on Sunday evening after being scolded by her mother.
“Her family searched for her urgently, and when they couldn’t find her, they filed a missing person report at the Soorasagar police station on Monday,” Kumar stated.
The police revealed that the two men encountered the girl alone on the hospital premises, struck up a conversation, and then led her to a secluded area behind the hospital’s biomedical waste dump, where they allegedly committed the crime.
The police found the victim on Monday evening near the hospital and informed her family. The 15 Year old girl later shared details of the assault with her parents and the police.
Kumar mentioned that an investigation has begun following the minor’s medical examination. A forensic team collected evidence from the crime scene within the hospital premises on Tuesday morning, and teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects, whose identities have been preliminarily identified.
Dr. Fatahsingh Bhati, the hospital superintendent, noted that while the police have not officially informed them about the suspects, internal inquiries suggest that one of the accused was previously employed at the hospital on a contractual basis.
“The hospital staff has been instructed to check the lighting around the area where the incident occurred, and security measures, including additional lights, are being enhanced,” he added.
