In a remarkable display of creativity and community collaboration, an extraordinary voter awareness event took center stage in Indore on April 27, 2024. Organized jointly by NGO Mahasangh and Smart City Indore, this event aimed to inspire civic participation through an innovative approach: the creation of a detailed map of Madhya Pradesh using cardboard, flexes, and jointed pieces.
Over a span of three days, a dedicated team of over 200 artists from Kasturba Gandhi Mahila Kalyan Kendra worked tirelessly to assemble the intricate map. Their efforts were complemented by the support of 250 volunteers from various NGOs and Vaishnav College, who played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the event.
The gathering drew the participation of numerous distinguished personalities, including Mr. Divyank Singh, CEO of Smart City Indore, representatives from transport unions, human rights councils, business associations, auto-rickshaw unions, labor unions, and high court advocates. Their presence underscored the significance of civic engagement and the importance of exercising the right to vote.
During the event, Mr. Divyank Singh passionately urged attendees to take a solemn oath to vote and to encourage others to do the same. A formal oath ceremony ensued, symbolizing a collective commitment to democratic participation and responsibility.
The highlight of the event came as the meticulously crafted map of Madhya Pradesh, spanning an impressive 2304 square feet, was unveiled. Constructed through a human chain effort, utilizing over 500 kilograms of cardboard, tapes, and flexes, the map stood as a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity in promoting civic awareness.
The venue, Gandhi Hall Indore, pulsated with energy as students from Vaishnav College enthusiastically joined the initiative, adding their youthful vigor to the cause. Special recognition was extended to Shashi Satpute, President of NGO Mahasangh, whose steadfast dedication played a pivotal role in bringing the event to fruition.
