The monsoon session of Parliament will start on July 20, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi stated on Saturday, asking all parties to participate in fruitful debate in both Houses. Up to August 11, the monsoon session will continue.
Joshi wrote on Twitter, “The 2023 Parliament’s Monsoon Session will begin on July 20 and last until August 11.” During the Monsoon Session, encourage all participants to participate in fruitful discussions of legislative business and other topics.
According to another Hindi tweet he made, the session will last for 23 days and include 17 sittings.
The forthcoming monsoon session is scheduled to take place in the new Parliament building, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened on May 28. Nearly all of the political parties represented in Parliament have offices selected, and important departments have been instructed to relocate to the new facility.
As Parliament is convening at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong case for a Uniform Civil Code and amid efforts to intensify consultations on the matter, the session is anticipated to be turbulent.
The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance will likely be replaced by a bill during this session. The Supreme Court decision that gave the Delhi government more legislative and administrative jurisdiction over “services” problems was effectively overturned by the Ordinance.
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has received backing from the majority of the opposition parties on this matter, however the Congress party has not yet publicly criticised the ordinance.
