The Wonder Woman actress has played the famous role in two stand-alone movies, various Justice League incarnations, and numerous guest roles.
In addition to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash, Gadot has a long list of other noteworthy roles in the DC Extended Universe.
The postponement of Wonder Woman 3 and the debut of James Gunn’s new DC Universe seemed to dash hopes for Gadot’s return, which was originally planned as a trilogy. However, the actress has recently inspired fresh hope for her future in the DC universe.
The 38-year-old teased that “things are being worked behind the scenes,” and “once the right moment arrives, you will know about it,” during an exclusive chat with Entertainment at Netflix’s Tudum. Gadot’s prior comments regarding the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and her professional trajectory seemed to imply that she had come to terms with never playing the character again, so her latest declaration is a welcome change of tone. Wonder Woman as portrayed by Gal Gadot fits James Gunn’s DC Universe flawlessly.
After James Gunn said that Henry Cavill would not play Superman in the new DC Universe, rumors of Gadot leaving the DC Universe started to spread around the end of 2022. This choice, which required making the hero younger, appeared to raise questions about the future of other DCEU actors, including Gadot. Additionally, the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and the revelation of Patty Jenkins’ departure from the project appeared to mark the end of Gadot’s time playing the Daughter of Themyscira.
Gunn’s DC reality is not meant to be a complete reset because numerous DCEU actors have already indicated that they will reprise their roles in the new reality. They include John Cena as Peacemaker, who Gunn revealed will segue into Peacemaker Season 2 after closing up production on Superman: Legacy, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, who will star in her own Waller Max series.
One of the complaints about Gadot’s Wonder Woman movies was that they did not thoroughly explore the character’s mythology. however, the planned Max prequel series may enrich that part of the DC Universe, paving the way for Gadot to possibly reprise her role as Wonder Woman.
