Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “The Boss” today at a significant community gathering in Sydney for the Indian diaspora.
The legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen, also referred to by fans as “The Boss,” was mentioned by Mr. Albanese in his opening remarks in reference to the large audience.
“Bruce Springsteen was the last performer I saw on this stage, and he did not receive the same ovation Prime Minister Modi has. The Australian Prime Minister declared, “Prime Minister Modi is The Boss,” prompting the Prime Minister to smile and enthusiastic applause from the large crowd gathered at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
PM Modi was given a traditional welcome when the two Prime Ministers arrived at the venue. Indian dancers began the event with a cultural performance. Mr Albanese spoke before PM Modi about his bilateral meeting with PM Modi following the event.
“This will be our sixth meeting since I was sworn in as Prime Minister one year ago today.” It demonstrates the significance of Australia-India relations. India’s economy will grow to become the world’s third largest. It is already the world’s most populous country. And we share an important neighbour in the Indian Ocean. And that is why we must invest in this relationship,” he said.
Mr Albanese believes that the Indian diaspora has made Australia a better place. “India is an important strategic partner.” We have a rich friendship, we have a very affectionate sporting rivalry on the cricket fields of the world, and we will, of course, contest the championship once more, later, very soon, both part of a growing and dynamic region, and Prime Minister Modi is a very welcome visitor to our shores,” he said.
