Virat Kohli Bangalore’s star batter, ended a four-year wait for an Indian Premier League century on Thursday, smashing the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers all over the park to reach his sixth ton of the tournament. This was Virat Kohli ‘s first century of the season, and he now has the same number of three-figure scores as former teammate Chris Gayle (6). The RCB opener had been in good form but had been criticized for his slow starts; however, on Thursday night, he proved his doubters wrong, reaching his century in 62 deliveries.
Virat Kohli was eventually dismissed on 100, leaving the field immediately after reaching the milestone; Bhuvneshwar Kumar took the RCB star’s wicket in the 18th over.
In a match against Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2019 season of the league, Virat Kohli scored his last century in the league; coincidentally, he also scored 100 on that occasion.
34-year-old batsman’s first 16 runs in the innings came from boundaries. He hit two fours off the first two deliveries of the RCB innings against Bhuvneshwar and smashed spinner Abhishek Sharma and left-arm pacer T Natarajan for two more. In the first six overs, Kohli took advantage of the powerplay by scoring 32 runs off just 20 deliveries.
Virat Kohli eventually sped to fifty runs in just 36 balls while maintaining a strong partnership with captain Faf du Plessis, who has been in outstanding form this season.
After scoring fifty runs, Virat Kohli changed his strategy because he appeared focused on reaching the three-figure mark. In the 15th over of the innings, Kohli went after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and dismissed the fellow India teammate for four fours in five balls. When the goal was within reach, Kohli rotated the strike with ease to reach the 100-run milestone impressively, slamming a full delivery from Bhuvneshwar towards deep midwicket for a maximum.
However, the batter was caught by Glenn Phillips off the very next delivery as he attempted to quickly wrap up the chase. The RCB, on the other hand, had little trouble chasing down the target with 8 wickets to spare, bolstering their chances of making the playoffs this season.
