On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, saying the Congress leader was seeking votes in the name of his retirement from active politics.
PM Modi claims that the people of Karnataka will not vote for a “tired and defeated” Congress, but for a BJP brimming with enthusiasm.Â
“A member of Congress is seeking votes in the name of retirement.” ‘This is my last election,’ he says on the campaign trail. Please give me a chance. What a pitiful state they’ve degenerated into!” Modi made the remarks during an election rally in Vijayapura, the district headquarters town.
The Prime Minister’s remark was directed at Siddaramaiah, 75, who recently announced that this would be his final election and that he would not run again.
“I am confident that the people of Karnataka will not vote for a tired and defeated Congress, but for the BJP, which is brimming with energy,” Modi added.
He claimed that a single slogan, ‘Ee Baariya Nirdhara, Bahumatada BJPiya Sarkara’ (This time the decision, a BJP government with a majority), is resonating throughout Karnataka.
In an attempt to strike a chord with the dominant Lingayat community of Karnataka, who are followers of the 12th-century social reformer Basaveshwara, who was born in Vijayapura, Modi stated that his party adheres to the poet-saint’s teachings in their entirety.
The Prime Minister stated that the Karnataka Assembly election in 2023, which will be held on May 10, is about building the state over the next 25 years.
“The BJP has a clear plan for the development of Karnataka.” “Congress lacks both a roadmap and enthusiasm,” Modi told the audience.
The ruling BJP is going all out to reclaim power in this year’s state election. The opposition Congress party is posing a formidable challenge to the party. Voting will take place on May 10, and the votes will be counted on May 13.
