Kerala has been placed on high alert after receiving a threat letter regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s impending visit from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office. The letter, which included the sender’s name and other information, threatened a suicide attack on PM Modi while he was scheduled to visit Kochi on April 24.
The man mentioned in the letter has been identified by police, but he has denied any involvement, saying that his name was used by his rivals to frame him. However, security measures have been tightened and more information is being sought by central investigation agencies.
A letter from the Additional Director General of Police detailing security drills was leaked to the media in the meantime. The letter from the ADGP also highlighted a number of other grave threats that were believed to exist, one of which came from the outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI). Kerala-born M. Muraleedharan, minister of state for external affairs, expressed concern over the leak and described the state police’s negligence as serious.
K. Surendran, the state president of the BJP, has insisted that all scheduled events will go on as planned.
On April 24, Modi is anticipated in Kochi, and on April 25, he will be in Thiruvananthapuram to launch the state’s first Vande Bharat Express.
In describing the Prime Minister’s itinerary for his visit, Surendran had earlier stated that the top BJP official would hold a roadshow and speak at a public gathering.
“The visit of the prime minister to Kerala will help the state’s development. There is a lot of anticipation for this visit among Keralans. A roadshow will be held by PM Modi. People will voluntarily show up to welcome him. The conference known as “Yuvam” will catalyze Kerala’s political transformation. He declared during a press conference that “the youth who want Kerala to develop beyond party politics will participate in this.
