Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced on April 11 that the legacy blue check marks will be removed on April 20. Since this went into effect, many people have taken to Twitter to share their hilarious reactions. Now, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is very active on Twitter, has a hilarious reaction to losing his blue tick verification. He asked what else he could do now to ensure his verification – ‘After folding his hands, fold his knees too?’
Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter and wrote, “T 4623 – Twitter bhaiya! Sun rahe he? Ab to paisa bhi bhar diye hein hum… toh or jo neel kamal (green tick emoticon) hot he na, hamar naam ke aagey, u toh vapas lagaye de bhaiya, taaki log jaan jaaye ki hum hi hein- Amitabh Bachchan… (Oh, Twitter brother? Now that I’ve paid the money, isn’t that blue mark there? Put it back, brother, so people know I’m the real Amitabh Bachchan… I’m here with folded hands. Should I also fold my knees now?)
On Thursday, Twitter removed the legacy verified blue ticks from all accounts, and the only individual Twitter users with verified blue checkmarks are those who pay for Twitter Blue, which costs between $650 and $700 per month. Several other celebrities reacted to the new development as well.
Aside from Amitabh Bachchan, several other celebrities, including Vir Das, Nargis Fakri, Prakash Raj, and Ravi Kishan, tweeted after losing their blue tick verification. “I enjoy this world. Buy tickets, not ticks, to verify an artist…Goodbye, blue tick. I don’t mind if someone impersonates me on Twitter. You have to deal with what they call me… What do you think about this? If you like what I’m saying, you’ve met the real me. If you’re irritated/offended/want to take action/complain to some sort of metaphorical papa… This account is the work of an unidentified impersonator. Cool?” Vir Das posted on Twitter.
Many other Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt, have also lost their Twitter-verified blue ticks.
Amitabh recently recovered from an injury sustained while filming Project K in Hyderabad. He revealed that he broke his rib cartilage while filming. Project K, directed by Nag Ashwin, is a bilingual film shot in two languages – Hindi and Telugu – in various locations. Deepika Padukone and Prabhash are both important characters in the film. Aside from that, he will appear in Ribhu Dasgupta’s next film Section 84.
