According to the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List, released on Wednesday, US billionaire Jeff Bezos lost the most wealth in dollar terms over the last year. According to a media release published by India Hurun, the founder of the e-commerce marketplace Amazon lost $70 billion in personal wealth, which is greater than the combined loss suffered by Indian billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.
According to the release, Gautam Adani and his family lost $ 28 billion in personal wealth, while Mukesh Ambani lost $21 billion.
2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List ranks Bezos first among the biggest losers, with Adani and Ambani ranking sixth and seventh, respectively.
Bezos is worth $118 billion, while Adani and Ambani are worth $53 billion and $82 billion, respectively.
Adani is a first-generation entrepreneur and the founder and chairman of the Adani Group. Adani Group is a diversified conglomerate with interests in power, ports, airports, cement, green energy, and other industries.
Meanwhile, Ambani serves as Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, India’s largest private company.
India ranks sixth in the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List in terms of the number of billionaires who have added $1 billion or more in the last year.
In addition, 176 new names from 18 industries and 99 cities were added to the list. India added 16 billionaires to take third place, comfortably ahead of Italy, which added 9 billionaires this year.
Rekha Rakesh Jhunjhunwala & family, India’s richest new entrant, topped the list of 16 new Indian entrants in the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List.
“Over the last five years, Indian billionaires added approximately $360 billion to their cumulative wealth – equivalent to Hong Kong’s GDP,” according to the release.
Furthermore, India ranks in the top ten in terms of the number of billionaires in the majority of major global industries. “India must catch up in sectors such as investments and media and entertainment,” according to the release.
