Amritpal Singh, a self-described extremist Sikh preacher and supporter of Khalistan, is the target of a huge manhunt that has been initiated across Punjab.
He is wanted by Punjab Police and has been missing since Saturday.
So far, 78 individuals have been detained, including six of the Amritpal shooters.
At numerous locations around the state, security has been stepped up, and extensive car inspections have taken place.
Singh’s home has police presence outside.
Police said that thus far throughout the statewide operation, 13 rifles, one revolver, and 373 live rounds have been confiscated.
After beginning a statewide raid on members of Waris Punjab De on Saturday, Amritpal Singh has been proclaimed a fugitive by the Punjab Police.
Singh is evading capture as a result of the state police’s extensive manhunt for him.
To prevent demonstrations and violence, section 144 has been implemented in several districts and Amritpal’s ancestral hamlet of Jallu Kheda has been transformed into a fortress.
In Punjab and the neighbouring Himachal, which shares borders with Punjab, a high warning has been issued.
