Many of us have been obsessed with The Royal Family for as long as we can remember, and there are numerous records, books, shows, and films based on the personal lives of the British monarchy. However, since King Charles III took the throne, people have been closely following his routine and, well, traits. From ‘the pen fiasco’ to public appearances, many people are now discussing his habits, which appear to be quite ‘picky.’
Staffers dubbed him “the pampered prince” because of his bad habits. While it’s natural to develop a taste for ‘finer’ things when you grow up in a wealthy family, some of these habits are too special’ even for royalty.
1. Shoes with ironed laces
King Charles’ ex-Butler Paul Burrell stated in the documentary Serving the Royals: Inside The Firm that King Charles prefers his shoelaces to be ironed flat every morning. Well, the privilege compensates for the outrageous habits.
2. The No-Lunch Rule
For a long time, the king’s refusal to eat lunch has sparked heated debate. It was even given its scene in an episode of The Crown. His staff is impacted by his no-lunch policy, as they must forego lunch when accompanying him on foreign tours or visits. However, he has his reasons, most of which are related to healthy eating.
3. Transporting His Toilet Seat
According to a New York Post article citing Tina Brown’s recent book The Palace Papers, King Charles travels with his toilet seat and Kleenex Velvet toilet paper.
4. Transporting Furniture to Friends’ Farmhouses
Since we’re talking about things that travel WITH him, it’s been reported that when he visits friends’ country houses, his bed, furniture, and even pictures are sent in a van that is unloaded before he arrives.
5. Squeezing Toothpaste Into The Brush
Staffers also pointed out that the King’s valets only put about ‘an inch’ of toothpaste on his toothbrush every morning. Many people have said that he is ‘fussy’ and ‘picky’ about a variety of things, including toothpaste.
6. A Temperature for Cheese and Biscuits
To add to his special’ eating habits, the king insists on heating his cheese and biscuits to a specific temperature, otherwise, he won’t eat them. And this is after most of his meals, so his staff keeps a warming tray on hand just in case.
7. Plant Communication
The king has always advocated for environmentally friendly methods and has a keen interest in gardening. As a result, he had previously discussed his habit of talking to plants and, more recently, how he shakes hands with them. This, on the other hand, is not a strange or picky habit like the others, but rather something that is beneficial to plants.
8. He is particular about his breakfast eggs
On several occasions, it has been reported and discussed that the king eats the same breakfast almost every day. Boiling eggs are a part of his breakfast, and he is so choosy about them that several eggs are boiled for him to ensure that the right kind of hard-boiled egg reaches his table.
