Sonia Gandhi , Congress MP, claimed on Saturday that the party and the country are going through a difficult period and that the BJP-RSS has captured every single institution in India.
“This is a difficult time for Congress and the country as a whole. Every single institution in the country has been captured and subverted by the BJP-RSS. “By favoring a few businessmen, it has caused economic ruin,” Sonia Gandhi said during the Congress’ three-day 85th plenary session in Raipur.
The UPA chairperson said her “innings could conclude” with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, indicating the end of her political career.
“Our victories in 2004 and 2009, along with Dr. Manmohan Singh’s capable leadership, gave me personal satisfaction, but what gratifies me most is that my innings could end with the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a watershed moment for Congress,” the UPA chairperson said.
The Congress party’s 85th plenary session began on Friday in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
On Saturday, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge also spoke at the session. “We will face all of the country’s challenges. The Bharat Jodo Yatra was like a ray of sunshine for the country. “To halt this plenary session, the BJP raided the homes of party workers. They detained our employees. “However, we faced them and held this session,” the Congress president added.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary, arrived in Raipur earlier on Saturday to attend the session. Bhupesh Baghel, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, met Priyanka at the airport.
In Raipur, Congress workers laid flower petals on the street to greet party general secretary Priyanka and other leaders.
On Saturday, the plenary will also discuss resolutions, including political and economic ones. On February 26, Rahul Gandhi will address the plenary. On Friday, the steering committee met to decide on the agenda for the plenary session.
The committee met on Friday morning and decided to seek nominations for members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in light of the party’s challenges and proposed amendments to the party’s constitution.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, traversed 12 states and two Union territories in 145 days after its launch on September 7, last year, covering 4,080 kilometers.
The yatra concluded on January 30 with an event at the Congress headquarters in Srinagar and a mega rally.
