Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is performing remarkably well at the box office despite having been in theaters for almost a month. The movie is on its way to becoming the most popular Hindi-language movie in the nation after surpassing the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark internationally. The new films Shehzada by Kartik Aaryan and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania by Marvel have had no impact on Pathaan.
The Hindi version of Baahubali: The Conclusion, which brought in Rs 510.99 crore, is still a ways off from being surpassed. During its fourth weekend, the movie’s total take in the Hindi market increased by more than Rs 10 crore. A total of Rs 2.20 crore was earned on Friday, Rs 3.25 crore on Saturday, and Rs 4.15 crore on Sunday.
The worldwide receipts for Pathaan from Sunday to Monday were disclosed by Yash Raj Films. “#Pathaan streak continues to soar,” YRF tweeted, adding that the movie has made Rs 996 crore globally. The movie has made more money than Rs 1000 crore as of Monday. According to Box Office Worldwide, the movie made Rs 623 crore in its domestic market and Rs 377 crore abroad, bringing its overall gross to Rs 1000 crore.
Pathaan follows Dangal (Rs 1968.03 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1747 crore), KGF 2 (Rs 1188 crore), and RRR as the fifth Indian movie to surpass the Rs 1000 crore mark globally (Rs 1174 cr). It should be noted that Pathaan managed to achieve this feat without being released in China.
When Pathaan crossed the Rs 1000 crore threshold, Shah Rukh Khan was overjoyed. He hosted an Ask SRK session on Monday where he told a Twitter user his lucky number. Shah Rukh responded, “Right now any number above 1000 ha ha ha #Pathaan,” when asked if he had a lucky number.
It will be interesting to see if other Bollywood superstars can regain their former glory in the wake of Pathaan’s enormous success. With his most recent film, Shehzada, Kartik Aaryan, who in 2022 helped save Bollywood from extinction with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, has failed miserably. After appearing in four unsuccessful films last year, Akshay Kumar is now back with Selfiee on Friday.
