Anshul Jubli won the lightweight division of the Road To UFC competition by defeating Indonesia’s Jeka Saragih. He finished the bout in two rounds and was proclaimed the winner via technical knockout. Anshul also received a UFC contract as a result of this victory, making him only the second Indian after Bharat Khandare to sign with MMA’s biggest promoter.
Anshul controlled the action in both rounds, trading the majority of the blows. The first round began with the Indonesian attempting to upset Anshul by making a funny face at the Indian.
Anshul immediately reacted to the gesture by launching a savage attack on Saragih before putting him down. He grappled the Indonesian and kept punching him. Saragih tried to break free from the hold by striking Anshul with his elbows, but it was useless. With just over 40 seconds left in the first round, the Indonesian was able to break free from the grapple. Anshul had the upper hand in the round.
Saragih began the second round, which also turned out to be the final round of the fight, on an offensive note. He kicked Anshul in the stomach before Anshul regained control of his opponent.
This time, Anshul caught his opponent in a hold from behind and struck him a few times with his knee. Then, following a similar strategy, he knocked him to the ground and threw a barrage of punches, causing the referee to stop the fight in 3:44 seconds.
The result also preserved Anshul’s winning streak.
“I’m here because I won this fight, so that’s why. Why should Indian fighters win the UFC? In his post-fight interview, Anshul declared, “I’m going to keep changing, I want to keep working, and my plan is to be the best in the world and I’ll do whatever it takes.
