According to police, at least seven people were injured in mysterious Twin blasts in Jammu’s Narwal neighbourhood on Saturday. “Seven injured in the blasts are being treated at the hospital,” said Dr. Narinder Bhatiali, superintendent of the government medical college and hospital. Surgery is being performed on one of them, who suffered splinter injuries in his stomach”.
“Six people were injured in twin blasts at Narwal,” said Mukesh Singh, the additional director general of police.
The area is a commercial hub that remains busy throughout the day, with people of all types of vehicles visiting for repairs and maintenance. It has numerous tires, spare part, junk dealers, and car accessory stores.
“The blasts were reported from two vehicles in Transport Nagar yard number 7. “We’re looking into the nature of the explosions,” said a senior police officer.
Police officers rushed to the scene shortly after the explosions and cordoned off the area.
Shopkeepers and locals rushed the injured to the hospital.
The blasts occurred amid heightened security in anticipation of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and five days before the Republic Day celebrations.
It should be noted that seven Hindus were killed in the Rajouri district on January 1 and 2 in two separate terror attacks at Dhangr village.
On December 28, four heavily armed terrorists infiltrating from Pakistan were killed in a “chance encounter” with security forces at Sidhra, about 11 kilometers from Narwal.
Terrorist activity has increased in the Jammu region.
On a visit to Jammu on January 14, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir will be made impregnable within the next three months.
He also stated that the government would bring the perpetrators of the two back-to-back attacks in Rajouri to justice.
Following the Dhangri killings, Amit Shah assigned 18 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to Rajouri and Poonch districts to upgrade anti-terror operations.
